News 3 LV: Third-party services wait to help fill gap during Nevada DMV disruptions

After what the state calls a targeted cyber-attack, agencies are still impacted, including the Nevada DMV. Now, Nevada DMV officials say they will honor missed appointments, but say they are wondering when that may be.

Hoping to ease some of the headaches brought on by the cyber attack, some third-party DMV service providers tell News 3 they, too, have been affected by the outage.

“This is very similar to kind of what happened during COVID. When they shut down, we were still taking in transactions and just letting people know, ‘look, we are going to do it as soon as the DMV opens up, we are going to be able to knock these out,” said Smog Plus DMV Services Owner, Rafael Arroyo.

Arroyo is just one of dozens of third-party DMV service providers across the state that are making going to the DMV a little less stressful and a bit more convenient for those looking to save time.

However, after finding out on Monday about the abrupt closure of all statewide agencies, including DMV offices, the last-minute cancellations came as a surprise for many who had made plans to take care of business.

I don’t have a whole lot of patience, and so this is one of those situations where I was hoping to resolve it, and I was unable to do so. So I just have to wait until hopefully it will correct itself,” said Nevada DMV customer Larry.

Hispanic Assembly candidate speaks against lax crime laws after business set fire

Hispanic Republican candidate for Nevada Assembly Rafael Arroyo is speaking out against criminal justice reform after his Las Vegas business was set fire by a homeless person.

“We have some camera footage of a homeless lady in the area at that time. It seemed like they broke in and started a fire inside a shuttle bus that we use as a mobile office parked right next to the small building. I think that when people have addiction problems or mental health issues, they make choices like that,” said (R) Candidate for Nevada Assembly District 41 Rafael Arroyo.
